Publishing houses are closing their doors to good literature. In an age where publisher policy is to publish more copies of less titles, there is no longer much room for something that is simply a good story or a wonderful piece of art. Not out there in the mainstream.
So – rather than whining about it, this is my response. Step around the dinosaurs and forge onward regardless.
The main problem about self publication is publicity - how do we sell books when no one knows that they exist? My answer is to try and make trailers – little films that act like movie trailers to give a taste of the book. These trailers then circulate out onto the web.
We’ll see how we do!
Kitsune press is an experiment. For those of you who are considering taking the self-publishing route, I’m always happy to chat.
Cheers!
